      在湖北省中青年优秀文艺人才库中，陈涓是一个蜚声大江南北的歌手，有人评价说，她为湖北歌坛添加了亮度，涂抹了艳彩。陈涓是一位土家族姑娘，出道以来，很快征服了全国亿万观众，歌坛同行说她是“百变歌手”， 有些专家说她是“歌坛怪杰”，不少人觉得奇怪，这么一个楚楚动人的小女孩，怎么能从嗓腔里发出阴阳之声？这方面，行家从内质上分析说，她天生具备了良好纯正的艺术修养，是一般人难以仿效的。

      陈涓自幼生长在长江之滨，在这个水草丰茂、植物繁多的荆楚大地上，她听惯了船工的号子，看惯了船上的白帆，为她的歌唱注入了充足的养料。早在1995年的春天，当时的中华人民共和国文化部党组书记、常务副主席高占祥先生来湖北宜昌，为全国先进文化县的长阳授牌，在当天的晚会上，陈涓唱了一曲“天不刮风，天不下雨，天上有太阳……”那穿破云天的高音，糅入了抑扬顿挫的旋律，令见多识广的老部长击掌叫绝，当众评价说，这姑娘就是到中央民族歌舞团去演唱，也毫不逊色。这话为陈涓走入歌坛，起到了推波助澜的作用，从此，这位湖北宜昌的小姑娘跨出了自己的母土，走向了全国，成为湖北歌坛上杀出的一匹黑马。

      这位天生丽质的姑娘，以她朴实的人生姿态，浓郁的乡土情怀，深厚的艺术修养，闯入了中国的歌坛。1995年12月，文化部组织了一次活动，她被邀参加了。在演唱会上，她以一曲《纤夫四季调》，荣获了文化部颁发的全国第五届群星奖表演二等奖；1999年11月，她在重庆市以一曲《土家花背篓》，再获文化部颁发的全国第九届群星奖获优秀奖。随着年龄的增长，修养的提高，以及信息量的增大，使陈涓的歌艺一路看涨，她的名气也在飞升。1999年11月，她被邀参加了中国南宁国际民歌节，歌声飞出，激发了听众的吼喊之声，基于观众的兴奋度和击掌的频率，她获得了特别奖； 2000年8月，在贵州凯里国际芦笙节邀请赛中，她以《刘海砍樵》和《智斗》两首歌曲，再次获得了特别奖； 2003年12月，她又获得了第十一届“全国青年歌手大赛”湖北赛区优秀奖；2004年12月30日参加了在广州举办的中央电视台新年晚会演出；2005年1月22日出演北京电视台春节联欢晚会。有人开玩笑说，她是歌坛上的“得奖专业户”，而专家们却说，她是荆楚大地上的百灵鸟，满脑子都是旋律。是的，陈涓的音色在众人听来，可称为绝顶之怪，虽无晦涩之音，却难以被人模仿，她既唱女声，又唱男声，女声唱得柔韵，千娇百媚，男声唱得雄浑，大气磅礴，真可谓是万人莫敌！对她的这一绝活，媒体炒作不止，称她为反串歌手、阴阳歌手、鸳鸯歌手、双簧歌手，不管什么歌手，但有一点评价却是千篇一律，那就是，这种歌唱家真是少见。
